Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies we use, why we use them, and how you can control them on End The Wait Ontario.

Last updated: April 16, 2026

This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal information more broadly.

What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your preferences and understand how you use it. We use cookies and similar technologies to enhance your experience on our Site.

Cookies We Use

Essential Cookies

Required for the Site to function properly. These cannot be disabled.

  • •Cookie consent preference: Remembers your cookie choice so we do not ask again (365 days)
  • •Security tokens: Protect against spam and abuse on forms
  • •Visitor ID (vid): A randomly generated identifier used by our first-party analytics pipeline to count unique visitors and detect abuse. Not linked to your name. Retained indefinitely alongside the associated events. See the First-Party Analytics section of our Privacy Policy for opt-out options.

Analytics Cookies

Help us understand how visitors interact with our Site so we can improve our advocacy resources. These are only set if you accept analytics cookies.

  • •Google Analytics (operated by Google LLC, United States): Collects anonymised page view and interaction data. IP addresses are anonymised before processing. Retention: 26 months.
  • •Vercel Analytics & Speed Insights (operated by Vercel Inc., United States): Collects anonymised page view data and Core Web Vitals performance metrics. No personally identifiable information is collected.
  • •Microsoft Clarity (operated by Microsoft Corporation, United States): Collects anonymised behavioural data including heatmaps and aggregated session recordings. No personally identifiable information is collected. You can opt out via Microsoft's privacy statement.
  • •PostHog (operated by PostHog, Inc., United States): Anonymised session recordings and user journey analysis. No personally identifiable information is collected. See PostHog's privacy policy.

Preference Cookies

Remember your preferences (e.g., high contrast mode, cookie consent choice) for future visits. These are stored locally on your device.

Layout Tests (A/B Tests)

We sometimes show two versions of the same page layout to learn which one helps families find help faster. Your browser is placed in a test group using a random code stored in your browser — never a cookie (before you accept analytics it lives in session storage and is deleted when you close the browser; after you accept, it is kept in local storage under etwo_ab_seed so your group stays the same). The code is never linked to your name or contact details, and every version of a page shows the same facts and numbers. If you decline analytics, or your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, you are excluded from all tests and always see the standard page.

We never use cookies for commercial advertising or sell your data to third parties.

Your Choices

When you first visit our site, a cookie banner gives you three options:

  • •Accept All: Enables essential and analytics cookies
  • •Essential Only: Only cookies required for the site to function; analytics are not loaded
  • •Cookie Policy: Review this page before deciding

You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Note that blocking essential cookies may affect site functionality.

Your cookie preference is stored for 365 days, after which we will ask again.

Cross-border Data Processing

Our analytics providers (Google, Vercel, Microsoft, PostHog) process data in the United States. All analytics data is anonymised before transmission and does not include personally identifiable information. These providers operate under their respective privacy policies and data processing agreements.

Cookie Retention Periods

  • •Cookie consent preference: 365 days
  • •Google Analytics data: 26 months
  • •Preference cookies (e.g., high contrast mode): until cleared by user
