Parent Navigator
A plain-language explanation of this stage and the next steps available to your family.
The Ontario Autism Program serves children and youth. As your child approaches 18, the path shifts to adult developmental services through Developmental Services Ontario (DSO), which has its own application and its own wait. Starting the DSO process early — well before the 18th birthday — helps avoid a gap in support. Other adult supports (for example, income and disability benefits) also come into view around this age.

Contact Developmental Services Ontario well before your child turns 18 — it has its own wait.
